Appearance: 

Katherine is incredibly vain and narcissistic in regards to her looks and uses her appearance as one of her best weapons in many a situation. She's typically beautiful, wearing heavy makeup and tighter clothing, feeling more secure when she has put effort into her looks because of preconceived idealisms in regards to beauty from growing up in the fifteenth century.
She has long, dark brown hair which more often than not is curled and reaches the small of her back. She's slim, around 5"6 and has relatively tanned skin. Her eyes are brown, in an almond shape and usually outlined with makeup.

Abilities: 

Super Strength/Speed - She's stronger and faster than any normal human being, werewolves or younger vampire.
Emotional Control - She has the ability to turn off her emotions if she wants to.
Dream Manipulation - As a vampire, she can modify others' dreams by adding herself to them, editing the scenarios, bestowing nightmares or initiating a state of lucid dreaming.
Heightened Senses - Can hear conversations (even those that are whispered) from far away, see things in complete darkness and smell blood from a while away.
Mind Compulsion - Katherine can compel humans or werewolves that aren't taking vervain into doing or thinking whatever she likes. She can also alter memory.
Immortality - Vampires are immortally the age that they were turned, she'll remain eighteen unless she's killed by one of the following: werewolf bite, stake through the heart, decapitation, heart being ripped out, fire or exposure to sunlight without her necklace.
Healing - She heals quickly, being able to snap bones back into place if broken and will heal from any injury other than a werewolf bite very quickly. She can also heal others if she gives them her blood.
Immunity to Vervain - Katherine has been ingesting vervain in small doses since 1864 and so is immune to it.

Personality: 
Outwardly, it would seem as though Katherine had little to no emotional capacity at all. She's ruthless, with little compassion for any of her kills, she'll use people for what she needs them for and then not think twice about discarding them. Humans tend to mean very little to her unless they give her a reason to like them or value their wellbeing, she still feeds from humans without their consent, often compelling them to forget if she thinks remembering would make them a hindrance. 
The only way that Katherine had managed to stay alive over the past 500 years is by being manipulative, this is especially true in regards to her treatment of men but she can usually find a way to make more people do as she pleases and if not; she'll compel them. She's not above using people to send a message to others or to save her own back, everyone is disposable if it ensures her wellbeing.
A less than endearing nickname that she has earned herself over the years is 'psychotic bitch' and it tends to fit her rather well. She doesn't take well to betrayal or being used and will easily flip out in anger at anyone who crosses her. She's not as impulsive as some vampires, she's learned to rein herself in when someone is more powerful than her, she may even treat them with a semblance of respect but it's unlikely that it'll be sincere.
She's hardened over the years due to necessity, becoming tougher, smarter and more independent over the years. She doesn't believe that she needs to have anyone in her life at any time because she has gone through vast periods of being alone while being on the run from Niklaus. Having relationships with people can be both a blessing and a curse, so she tends not to let herself get overly attached to others.
Despite this facade of being emotionless, there are some people that Katherine does care deeply about. The Salvatore brothers along with other past loves are still kept in her heart dearly, but showing love would be showing weakness and so she's reluctant to let them, or anyone else, know that. She learnt early in life that true love was not the fairytale it was made out to be. 
She's a stark contrast to her human self 500 years ago, who said "life is too cruel to live without love." There are still traces of Katerina Petrova to be found, but they are hidden deep within her and it's unlikely that many people will be able to catch a glimpse.

Crack. The sound used to scare her, she'd cringe at the thought of it and yet recently it brought her some twisted kind of pleasure. One swift twist with her hands and they were dead, assuming they weren't worth compelling. She knew the feeling, the familiar twisting of bones and yet to inflict it on someone else felt different, abstract. Powerful. There were plenty of periods in Katherine's lifetime where she had found herself playing the victim in life, but recently she found that it was a situation she feared less often. She was strong, stronger with each day and there was little to fear when you could bleed any danger dry.

She pushed the body away from her, abandoning it in the alley where it lay. Another brutal animal attack in the heart of Virginia, nobody would blink an eyelid at it. It almost spoiled her fun to think about the nonchalance with which John Doe's death would bring, there was a time when a murder meant inquisitions and large-scale vampire hunts but now everything had to be kept a secret. It made keeping a low profile easier, surely, but the satisfaction of the kill simply wasn't the same. Maybe she'd go to the funeral, that could be fun at least.

With an irritated roll of her eyes she wiped her hand on her pants to remove any evidence of the kill, her good mood was gone and now she found herself in a situation she had been in all too often. People were much less fun nowadays, never ready to believe in magic and the supernatural. They were too wrapped up in their own, mundane lives to see the bigger picture. That was all Katherine ever thought about, for five hundred years she had been focusing on the butterfly effect of her actions. Watching her back, hiding her tracks wherever she went. Life on the run was exhausting, but it gave her something to do. 

She smiled to herself as she spotted the man heading out of the bar as she rounded the corner, making eye contact with them with an almost bashful smirk. All of this thinking had made her hungry, and she was ready for seconds.
